II.4) SHORT DESCRIPTION OF NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORKS: The Redevelopment
of a Grade 2* Listed Royal Shakespeare Theatre (RST) and the Swan Theatre
which lie on the banks of the river Avon at the heart of the RSC's Estate
in Stratford-upon-Avon. Working largely with the shell of the existing
building, the proposals include replacing the existing RST auditorium,
improving the scale and clarity of foyer spaces and replanning back of
accommodation. Outside the building the proposals will provide better
quality public spaces facing both the river and the town. A new public
square and circulation tower will signal the changes and provide a link to
the town of Stratford. A construction management procurement route has
been adopted procuring the works through Trade packages to deliver the
above brief. Hoisting. Contractor design and installation of 2
non-personnel hoisting works for the new RST.
Estimated cost of works excluding VAT: 175 250 GBP.
